Why is it so hard to get rid of?

You might be stuck in this cycle...

  • Cause

    Modern lifestyle habits

    Sitting for long periods, poor posture, lordosis and bad running or walking form can all be causes of glute / butt and hip pain.

  • Creates

    Muscular imbalance

    Nearby muscles aren't working as they should, and the piriformis takes on too much load.

  • Leads to

    Pain in the glute, hip and butt area!

    The overworked piriformis gets tight, inflammed and the source of pain, restriction and discomfort.

  • Results in

    Pain radiating from the hip

    The strained piriformis compresses the sciatic nerve resulting in severe discomfort and potentially shooting 'nervy' pain.

    But don't let this get you down! This imbalance can be fixed!

    Does it take much time commitment?
    No, not much! The classes are short - just 20 minutes. Depending on how you feel, we recommend 3-6 classes a week. You will likely start to feel the benefit straight away but we encourage you to continue the classes for several weeks, following the suggested calendars inside the program.
    Do I need any yoga experience?
    No, these classes are suitable for all levels no matter your experience, with really clear instructions.
    Even if I'm unfit/ inflexible?
    Even! Each of the classes is floor-based and not intensive.
    Should I see a doctor or physiotherapist first?
    Yes, we always recommend to see a medical practitioner first, get a diagnosis and the go-ahead to exercise. You are always responsible for your own body and take full responsibility for your health and wellbeing.

    If I have a desk job isn't this pain inevitable?
    Absolutely not! Whilst a lot of sitting is a clear reason for your pain, you don't have to live with it. This Pathway of classes will teach you the right type of exercises to maintain to relieve the pain and stop it returning.
    I do a lot of running/ sport/ activity isn't this pain inevitable?
    Absolutely not! Whilst the activity you do is likely what's caused the build up of pressure and pain, this Pathway of classes is going to help bring about more balance of strength in the hip muscles so that piriformis isn't strained so much. There is more you can do - like getting your running form checked out, so please reach out if you'd like me to help you with this via our contact page.
