Yoga for Young Carers
During the February half term I took two small groups of young carers for yoga sessions. Knowing how hard they work, how much they have to worry about and get done at home, on top of school work, I expected them to be very wound up and stressed out young people. They came across as very quiet and polite young adults, yet as we progressed through the class they revealed how little time they get to themselves. At the end of class they all confessed to feeling totally relaxed and ready to get on with the rest of their day, even better – they claimed to have learnt several ways of calming and relieving stress at home.
